coney island restaurant.

coney island's past is more shining than it's present. but it's present, is oh, so brooklyn. wander outside the highly trafficked area of boardwalk and you find all sorts of interesting things.

js's barbecue.

js, one of my coworkers, hosted a rooftop barbecue, the 22nd of april. the weather was perfect, the grill was hot and the drinks were cold. it was a really nice saturday evening. hopefully we'll do it again soon.

backyard.

my brooklyn backyard. the crazy cat lady next door puts the bricks into the decorative concrete fence to keep the cats in her yard. they just jump over the fence.

brooklyn terminal market.

so, we both had this image in our heads of building full of farm fresh produce and flowers, so we ventured out to canarsie. but alas, what we found were a group of old (beautiful) brick warehouse/loading buildings mostly filled with wholesale food products and floral nurseries.
we took the bus there from jasons and back to my place. it was nice to see that side of brooklyn, and may be worth another trip as the weather gets warmer.

this place did have fresh produce, dried salted fish, and legumes by the pound.

the new haven kahn museums.

one weekend, early in february, the 3rd and 4th of, to be exact, jason and i trekked up to new haven, ct, to stay with a very, very good friend from college, a one mr. drew parli, and to see all that new haven and yale and louis kahn had to offer.

(i couldn't resist the super grainy, underexposed shot of jason taking a photo, especially with those beautiful bits of swirly light)

coney island board walk.

the coney island boardwalk, deeply imprinted in the minds of generation Y-ers everywhere by the unforgettable, BIG, and the fortune telling machine. (that, and rug-like keyboards at fao schwartz.)

i hope that thor leaves behind the gregory and paul's hamburger man. he's irresistible.

coney island amusements.

we did not 'shoot the freak' we did rock around in bumper cars to 'killer' eighties music. and, most of us, took a ride on the oldest wooden roller coaster in the u.s.

it's the last year for the coney island amusements, (thanks to thor equities developments) except for the (headache inducing) cyclone, so if you get a chance this summer, you should try it out, before it's gone.

coney island beach walk.

it was a beautiful sunday afternoon, the first afternoon of summer where the sun really warmed your skin and the cool breeze just brushed over the top of that warmth.

april 22nd, heidi , brooke, amy, and i went for a long walk, barefoot in the sand.
